Calling all Wisconsin bird artists

If you are a member of the Wisconsin Society for Ornithology, your original Wisconsin bird artwork may become the design on the 2023 WSO convention T-shirt, and it may also be featured in one or more WSO publications. Please prepare your entry as follows:

  • ·Artwork should include at least one of the following Waukesha-area bird species: Hooded Warbler, Blue-winged Warbler, Acadian Flycatcher, Short-eared Owl, Blue-headed Vireo, Black-necked Stilt, Bobolink, Henslow’s Sparrow, Clay-colored Sparrow, Lark Sparrow, and Orchard Oriole.
  • ·Your original Wisconsin bird painting or other appropriate artwork (not a photograph) should be suitable for reproduction on the front of a T-shirt – reproduction size approximately 8" x 10".
  • ·The piece should not contain anything that identifies you as the artist. If your artwork is chosen, you are welcome to add your name as artist before submitting your final artwork.

Please submit an electronic copy (PDF or JPG) of your original Wisconsin bird artwork as an email attachment by December 31, 2022, to convention@wsobirds.org. In your email, please include your name, address, telephone number, and email contact information.

The winning entry will be selected by the WSO 2023 Convention Committee from all submissions without identification of the artists. Please note: once the winning entry is selected, the original art work of the winning entry must be submitted to the T-shirt company for reproduction purposes; it will be returned to the artist after reproduction is completed. WSO retains reproduction rights of the winning piece and is not responsible for loss or damage to artwork. There is no entry fee and no monetary award to the winner.

The newly designed WSO T-shirts will be available for order during registration for the 2023 WSO convention in Waukesha, and they can be picked up at the convention.
