https://ebird.org/hotspot/L16287615

Habitat:  Northern Hardwood Forest, Hardwood Hemlock Forest, Mixed Coniferous Forest

Best Birds: This miles-long trail system is located entirely south of Hwy 70 and Anvil Lake. Trails pass through rolling, mostly upland terrain providing opportunities for a variety of songbirds. The mature hardwood and hemlock should be scanned for Blackburnian, Black-and-White, and Black-throated Green Warbler. Extensive areas of understory shrubs over-topped by mature forest provide habitat for Broad-winged Hawk, Barred Owl, and Black-throated Blue Warbler. The songs of Hermit Thrush are common along the trails.

Directions: Anvil Lake Trail Head #1 is 51 miles W of Iron Mountain, MI/ 9 miles E of Eagle River with a parking lot on the south side of Hwy 70 (45.93543, -89.05985).  Anvil Lake #2 trail head is located 1 mile south from Hwy 70 on Military Road (45.92000, -89.06852).
