Habitats: Tamarack Swamp, Alder/Dogwood Swamp, Sedge Meadow, Southern Hardwood Forest, Non-native Grasslands.

Best Birds: Tamarack Creek Bog is the largest tamarack bog in the Driftless Area and one of the most southwesterly locations for tamarack in the Midwest. Species in the bog include some with more northern distribution such as Canada Warbler. In the surrounding shrub swamp are numerous pairs of Bell’s Vireo, along with Willow and Alder Flycatcher and Black-billed Cuckoo. Adjacent to the wetlands are grasslands and brushy uplands along County Highway F near the parking area on W. Tamarack Rd that harbor Blue-winged Warbler, Field Sparrow, Eastern Meadowlark, Dickcissel, and Bobolink.

Directions: 37 miles NNW of La Crosse/10 miles north of Trempealeau on the east side of County Road F and west of Highway 93. Access is along County Highway F.  For the southern section of the SNA park on the shoulder of F about 0.25 miles south of Kamrowski Road, (44.152916, -91.45245) and walk east into the site. To reach the northern unit of the SNA, continue north on F 0.9 mile to a parking area on the west side of the road (44.16274, -91.45248) and walk east across F and then northeast into the site. The general wildlife area is in scattered units along F with the largest centered around the parking area near the intersection of W. Tamarack Road and F, (44.16785, -91.45561).
