Happy Hollow County Park

https://ebird.org/wi/hotspot/L1333302

Habitats: 206 acres of Open Water, Bottomland Hardwoods, Marsh, and Cropland.

Best Birds: Happy Hollow Park provides good birding along the Rock River and its associated floodplain. The forest is relatively mature and holds Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Great Horned Owl, Barred Owl, Red-headed Woodpecker, Yellow-throated Vireo, and Prothonotary Warbler. Areas around the perimeter of the park, including the park entrance, are good for Lark Sparrow and Vesper Sparrow. During spring migration, the forested Rock River shoreline is a migration corridor for songbirds, especially warblers.

Directions: Located 3 miles south of Janesville on W. Happy Hollow Road and just southeast of the Rock County Regional Airport. Best and shortest trail is from the southeast end of the parking lot (42.596426, -89.038881) to the east, along the Rock River. A second trail from the parking lot heads in a more northerly direction, through the forest interior.
