Habitat: 52 acres of Marsh, Open Water, Oak Savanna, Successional Oldfield, Southern Hardwood Forest, and Cropland.
Best Birds: Wetland and lowland forest birds are Beckman Mill Park’s best offerings, including Sandhill Crane, Bald Eagle, Alder Flycatcher, and Marsh Wren. Quality spring migrants include Philadelphia Vireo, Veery, Gray-cheeked Thrush, and Magnolia, Blackburnian, and Wilson’s Warbler. Red-headed Woodpecker also occur due to savanna habitat on the grounds.
Directions: Located 6 miles west of Beloit on County Rd. H, one mile south of State Highway 81, and approximately 1/2 mile north of the Wisconsin-Illinois border. Trails from the main parking lot go west to the pond and north on an elevated walkway over marsh habitat and into a wooded area with additional views of the mill pond.
