Prescott Marina, Pierce County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Open Water, Urban Residential Park.

Best Birds: In Prescott it is always open water at the confluence of the St. Croix and Mississippi Rivers even in the coldest of winters. Many Bald Eagle can be found in winter along the river. Check the riverfront from north of the Hwy 10 bridge to the marina south of the railroad bridge. Freedom Park provides an especially good vantage point. Trumpeter Swan overwinter here as well as a dozen species of duck. In spring migration Tundra Swan and several species of goose may be seen here. The bluff tops are a good place to observe raptors during migration from a vantage point 200 feet over the Mississippi especially Sharp-shinned, Cooper’s, and Red-shouldered Hawk, Merlin and Peregrine Falcon.

Directions: 18 miles S of Hudson, in the city of Prescott. The marina is located on 2nd St., (44.74571, -92.79902). To reach the bluffs above Prescott go to Freedom Park for a vantage point about 200 feet higher than the river, (44.74282, -92.79111). Alternatively travel another .5 mile south on Monroe to the Pine Glen Cemetery, (44.73899, -92.7789). Follow the fence line to the bluff overlook.
