County Line Swamp

County Line Swamp (Oconto side), Oconto County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Hardwood Swamp, Southern Hardwood Forest.

Best birds: This is an extensive mixed hardwood swamp hardwood forest complex. A slow drive or a walk along County Road Y and County Line roads will likely produce typical hardwood swamp breeders such as Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Red-shouldered Hawk, Brown Creeper, and Northern Waterthrush. This area has occasionally produced Golden-winged Warbler and regionally rare Cerulean and Hooded Warbler as breeders. The area is excellent for Barred Owls and full choruses can be heard on some nights. 

Directions: 43 miles NNE of Green Bay. Take County Line Road approximately two miles east from US Highway 141. The forest complex starts here and continues east to County Road Y and south along County Road Y to North Bay Shore Recreation Area. The north side of County Line Road is Marinette County.
