Lower Wisconsin State Riverway – Millville Unit

Habitat: Oak-Hickory Forest, Southern Hardwood Forest, Native and Restored Grassland.

Best Birds:  From the parking lot scan the grasslands for Lark Sparrow, Henslow Sparrow, Bobolink, and Dickcissel.  In the forest look for Yellow-throated Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Orchard Oriole, Blue-winged Warbler, Cerulean Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager.  At night listen from the parking lot for  Whip-poor-will, Barred Owl, and Screech Owl.  

Directions: 85 miles W of Madison/ 5 miles west of Woodman on State Highway 131 and then west on County Road C.    

Over 3215 acres are available on this site between County Highway C and the Wisconsin River.  A parking lot is located at 43.054982, -90.881915.  Walk north into the prairie and east or west into Woodland Forest.  A second parking lot is at 43.039496, -90.938850 on the west edge of the property.  Access from this lot is only towards the east.
