Supple Marsh

https://ebird.org/wi/hotspot/L1153127

Habitat: Marsh, Willow/Dogwood Swamp, Open Water, Urban/Residential

Best Birds: Waterbirds (geese, ducks, grebes), gulls, terns, Sora, Virginia Rail, American Bittern. Spring and fall are the best times to visit, when the trees bordering the lake and the marsh may attract good numbers of migrant warblers and other passerines, which seem to be funneled along the lakeshore. Typical marsh birds may be spotted, along with flocks of waterfowl during the spring or fall. The marsh is also a traditional blackbird roost, and every evening (spring through fall) one can see flocks converging from every direction.

Directions: 41 miles S of Appleton, on the northwest side of the City of Fond du Lac across the river from Lakeside Park. Supple Marsh is also called Lakeside Park-West. One can observe part of this area from Highway 45 (shoulder parking on this busy highway), or drive into the park (43.79524, -88.46107) and follow the road along the marsh to Lake Winnebago.
