Old Elk Lake, Dunn County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot
Habitat: Open Water, Oak Savanna, Native and Restored Grassland, Northern Hardwood Forest.
Best birds: This large lake is attractive to a surprising variety of water and shorebirds, including Ruddy Duck, Black and Forster’s Tern, Double-crested Cormorant, herons, shorebirds, and Red-headed Woodpecker. Bald Eagle also habit the lake.
Nearby ephemeral ponds along Highway E often hold shorebirds.
Directions: 12 miles W of Eau Claire. Follow Highway E 6.8 miles south from Hwy 12 or take Cameron Street west from Eau Claire to a parking area on E (44.82400, -91.73228).

Old Elk Lake is a large lake bordered on three sides by private property. A scope is required for best viewing.
