Habitat: Open Water, Marsh, Oak-Hickory Forest, Oak Savanna, Pine Plantation, and Succession Oldfield.
Best Birds: Wyona Lake and the Middle and North Branch of Duck Creek open up in early spring and provide habitat for geese, Common Goldeneye, Common Merganser, and Common Loon. In spring and fall search for warblers. During the nesting season you may find Hooded Merganser, Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Chimney Swift, American Woodcock, Blue-headed Vireo, Yellow-throated Vireo, Warbling Vireo, Cliff Swallow, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, Brown Thrasher, and Cedar Waxwing. Osprey and Bald Eagle can also be found.
Directions: 33 miles N of Madison. In Wyocena, at the intersection of Highway 22 and G, go east on G for .66 miles and then left on GG for .33 miles to a parking lot, (43.496729, -89.293426). There are a 0.4-mile drivable trail, 0.7 miles of walking trails, and a boat launch for canoeing or kayaking. You can also watch birds from the entrance road by the bridge.
