Habitat: Open Water, Northern Hardwood Forest, Marsh, Willow, Alder or Dogwood Swamp, Cropland.
Best Birds: Visitors during spring and fall should scan the water for a variety of waterfowl species. Searching the brush along the shore can often produce Fox Sparrow, White- throated Sparrow, and Swamp Sparrow. Summer visitors may include Clay-colored Sparrow. Birders who come to this site during the winter may encounter finch species including Purple Finch and Common Redpoll.
Directions: 57 miles N of Eau Claire/on the south side of the City of Rice Lake on E. South Street. The road ends at the parking lot. Park on the south end for quickest access to the walking trail.
Site Address & Additional Information:
The park provides visitors access to a wide variety of different habitats. The 1.5 mile walking trail is typically the most productive part of the park. The trail follows the lakeshore for much of the distance.
