North Wood County Park, Wood County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot
Habitat: Northern Hardwood Forest, Open Water.
Best Birds: The two small lakes and the Yellow River provide foraging opportunities for Spotted Sandpiper, and Belted Kingfisher.
Forested areas are home to Broad-winged Hawk, Barred Owl, Eastern Wood- Pewee, Great Crested Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Vireo, Wood Thrush, and Scarlet Tanager.
The more open areas with large oak trees attract Red-headed Woodpecker and Eastern Kingbird.
Directions: Main entrance is located 40 miles W of Stevens Point/5 mi. north of Pittsville on County Hwy. A. A short walking trail, part of which loops through the woods, is located on the west side of the river.
