Asylum Point Park/Picnic Point Wildlife Refuge

Habitat: 170 acres of Successional Oldfield, Restored Oak Savanna, Oak-Hickory Forest, Marsh, and Open Water.

Best Birds: Scan open water and marsh for loons, grebes, American White Pelican, Double-crested Cormorant, gulls, terns, waterfowl, herons, egrets, Osprey, and Bald Eagle. Check grasslands for sparrows, Eastern Meadowlark, and Bobolink. Walking the wooded areas can produce woodpeckers, flycatchers, vireos, thrushes, nuthatches, Brown Creeper, sparrows, blackbirds, orioles, and warblers. Check lake ice and ice shoves for Snowy Owl.

Directions: Located 4 miles north of Oshkosh, on Lake Winnebago. The first parking area is at the end of East Snell Road (44.06866, -88.52249). Four other parking areas are located along Sherman Road as it runs along the bay to the point (44.06280, -88.51435).
