Partridge Lake

Partridge Lake (Waupaca Co.), Waupaca County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Open Water, Willow and Alder Swamp, Marsh. 

Best Birds: Look for Purple Martin at the boat landing. Besides the early spring sightings of Common and Red-breasted Merganser, Northern Pintail, Green-winged Teal, Ruddy Duck, Lesser Scaup, Canvasback, and Redhead, there may be Horned Grebe, Common Loon and Caspian Tern present. Forster’s Tern is also possible.

Directions: 27 miles W of Appleton. Take Hwy 110 into Fremont.  Watch for the Old Yellowstone Hwy marker and take that road, also called Wolf River Drive (County U) eastward for about a mile along the south shore of Partridge Lake to Lake Street. Turn left into the Fremont Public Beach park from which a canoe or kayak may be launched, (44.26522, -88.88016).  Good viewing for boaters is along the southern shoreline, but surprises might be found along the reeds of the uninhabited north shore.
