Lion's Point on Marion Millpond

Habitat: Alder Swamp, Bottomland Hardwoods, Residential, Open Water. The millpond is formed by the damming of the Pigeon River. A small beach is just beyond the parking area. 

Best Birds: In spring and fall, White-winged and Surf Scoter, as well as more common waterfowl, Red-necked Grebe, and Common Loon have been seen out from the parking area. Shorebirds are seen on the beach during migration. Chimney Swift , Purple Martin, and Bank Swallow are frequently seen flying over the pond. Bald Eagle and Osprey occasionally pass overhead in search of food. 

Directions: 52 miles SE of Wausau, in the city of Marion. Lion’s Point is at the northwest end of W. Garfield Ave.
