Paul Lange & Ora Rice Arboretums

Paul Lange Arboretum, Walworth County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Southern Hardwood Forest, Open Water, Parkland.

Best Birds: Although a fair mix of water-loving birds such as herons, ducks and gulls may be present on Lake Comus, the primary draw to this area is the rich variety of flycatchers, vireos, thrushes, thrashers, wrens, finches, and blackbirds. The edge habitat along Lake Comus is particularly attractive to wood warblers.

Directions: 53 miles SW of Milwaukee/North side of Delavan. Parking lot is on the east side of North Terrace Street at the northwest corner of Lake Comus. The mile-long Dibble Trail can be accessed at the northeast corner of the Paul Lange Arboretum.

Site Address & Additional Information:

The adjacent arboretums feature a wide spectrum of native and non-native trees, typical of many arboretums. The Ben Dibble Trail to the northeast, which runs along the shoreline of Lake Comus, consists mainly of native deciduous trees and shrubs, and, toward its northeast extremity, a grove of white cedars.
