Habitat: Bottomland Hardwoods, Marsh, Open Water, Mudflats.
Best Birds: The large marsh at the east end of the property attracts herons, egrets, and both migrant and breeding waterfowl. Search for shorebirds on the mudflats and drained ponds. The bottomland forest provides habitat for Red-shouldered Hawk, Pileated Woodpecker, and Prothonotary Warbler.
Directions: 19 miles S of LaCrosse. The Interpretive Center (43.523249, -91.215182) is 3 miles south of Genoa on State Highway 35. The auto tour goes both east and west of the state highway. Just south of the STH 35 Bridge over the Bad Axe River is a lane leading to a boat landing on the Mississippi River.
