Habitat: Conifer Bog within extensive Northern Hardwood Forest.

Best Birds: Species in the Conifer Bog (Black Spruce/Tamarack) include Northern Saw-whet Owl, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Winter Wren, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and Lincoln’s Sparrow

Species in the northern hardwoods include Yellow-billed and Black-billed Cuckoo, Red-shouldered Hawk, Barred Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Yellow-throated and Blue-headed Vireo, Acadian Flycatcher, Common Raven, Veery, Hermit Thrush, Wood Thrush, and warblers including Golden-winged Warbler, Mourning Warbler, Northern Parula, Black-throated Blue Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler, and Canada Warbler.

Directions: 72 miles NE of Eau Claire/30 miles northwest of Medford. From the intersection of Highways 73 and County Road D just east of Jump River, go east on County Road D 6.3 miles, then south on FR 113. The swamp lies east of FR 113 and north of Hannibal Rd. Bird the perimeter of the swamp from the roadside or use one of several old logging roads and trails going north from Hannibal Rd, including a trail marked with a carsonite post at 45.30777, -90.62501 and a logging road, Trail 540 at 45.29799, -90.65978.
