Willow River State Park

Habitat: Open Water, Bottomland Hardwood Forest, Grasslands. 

Best Birds: Gray-Cheeked Thrush, Olive-Sided Flycatcher, Mourning Warbler, Connecticut Warbler, Blue-Headed and Philadelphia Vireo are regular migrants. Local breeders include Red-Shouldered Hawk, Bald Eagle, Tufted Titmouse, Wood Thrush, Blue-Winged Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager, In fall Red-Headed Woodpecker, Winter Wren and Golden-Crowned Kinglet may migrate through the park.

Directions: Six miles northeast of Hudson. Hwy 12/ Co Rd U merges into Co Rd A on which is the entrance to the park.

Site Address & Additional Information:

Willow River State Park encompasses the Willow River for several miles and includes an impoundment from a dam on the property. The habitat is mostly Bottomlands Hardwood Forest. There are areas of restored grasslands near the entrance and on the south side of the park.
