Twin Lakes

Twin Lakes, Warren Twp, St. Croix County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Open Water, Marsh, Non-Native Grassland, and Northern Hardwood Forest. 

Best Birds: The area is a magnet for migrating waterfowl, gulls, and terns. Notable are large numbers of Ruddy Duck, Red-Breasted Merganser, Horned Grebe, Common Loon, and White Pelican. Large numbers of Bonaparte’s Gull pass through this area in spring. Blackpoll, Orange-Crowned Warbler, Tennessee Warbler, and Blackburnian Warbler are commonly-seen migrants. Local nesters include Bald Eagle, Eastern Wood Pewee, Warbling Vireo, Wood Thrush, and Scarlet Tanager in the areas around the lake. Blue-Winged Teal,  a large colony of Double-Crested Cormorants, and Marsh Wren are also common summertime residents.

Directions: About 10 miles east of Hudson. From Roberts, take 80th Ave west about 1 mile to 107th St. Turn on to 107th Street and the birding begins! In about a half mile, there will be a turnout in the road to park and scan lake (44.96812, -92.58294). Views of the lake are also available from 112th Street and the Warren Town Hall and park, (44.96506, -92.57414)4).

This area is dominated by a pair of large lakes which were originally divided by a county road but rising water levels have turned this into a single lake.
