St. Croix River- Somerset Landing

Habitat: Bottomland Hardwood Forest, Open Water. 

Best Birds: This area holds classic river bottom nesters like  Barred Owl, Prothonotary Warbler, Northern Waterthrush andScarlet Tanager.. Wood Thrush numbers are excellent and Red-Shouldered Hawk is commonly seen. Spring migrants include Olive-Sided Flycatcher and Yellow-Bellied Flycatcher and both Mourning Warbler and Connecticut Warbler.

This location provides the northernmost location in St. Croix County and possibly the state for such birds as Acadian Flycatcher, Louisiana Waterthrush, and Hooded Warbler.

Directions: 24 miles N of Hudfson/10 miles northwest of Somerset. Take Hwy 35 north from Somerset for 6 miles to Polk St Croix Road then west 4 miles to Marine Road and then to Ferry Landing Road.
