Shawano Lake Seaplane Base

Shawano Lake—Lighthouse viewing area, Shawano County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Willow/Alder Swamp, Hardwood Swamp, Open Water. The outlet of Shawano Lake is located here. 

Best Birds: Mute and Trumpeter Swan, Surf Scoter, Horned and Red-necked Grebe, Black and Forster's Tern, Common Loon, Osprey, Bald Eagle, Purple Martin. This is the place on the lake where the water opens up the earliest in spring and is attractive to early migrating waterfowl. Two access points just to the east of here also offer good views of the west end of the lake. 

Directions: 38 miles NW of Green Bay. From Highways 22/47/55 on the east side of Shawano, go north on Highway HHH 1/2 mile to the airport. Turn right just before the bridge on to Gumaer Road and go 1/4 mile to the lake.
