Garner Lake

https://ebird.org/wi/hotspot/L695927

Habitat: Open Water, Marsh, Bottomland Hardwoods, Native and Restored Grassland.

Best Birds: Garner Lake is connected to the Wisconsin River system, and the variety of bird species depends on water level and season.  Red-shouldered Hawk, Pileated Woodpecker, and Yellow-throated Vireo may be seen or heard in the forest and edge to the south of the lake, also Rusty Blackbird on migration. Marsh Wren are in the Wetland.  If the water level is low during migration, shorebirds may be found feeding in the mud and shallow water.

Directions: 66 miles SE of La Crosse. From Port Andrew (where County Hwy T crosses the Wisconsin River to Blue River), go 2 miles west on Highway 60 to Garner Lake Drive. The lake is less than a mile to the south and east, at the end of the road.
