Habitat: Bottomland Hardwood Forest, Mixed Coniferous Forest, Successional Oldfield.

Best Birds: Hiking north to the interior hardwood forest from the end of River Rd, look and listen for Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Least Flycatcher, Acadian Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Vireo, Wood Thrush, and Scarlet Tanager

The mixed bottomland forest and scrub as well as the upland mixed coniferous forest along the Tomorrow River and Poncho Creek should be checked for Ruffed Grouse, woodpeckers, flycatchers, vireos, Brown Creeper, Winter Wren, Veery, Hermit Thrush, finches, sparrows, Golden-winged Warbler, Blue-winged Warbler, Black-and-white Warbler, Mourning Warbler, Blackburnian Warbler, and Pine Warbler

Always bring a compass when venturing in this area, as it is considered semi-wilderness. 

Directions: 12 miles E of Stevens Point/ 8 miles north of Amherst. The main access can be reached by taking River Rd north from Rolling Hills Rd. to a parking area at (44.5335821, -89.3348853). Another parking spot with access to Poncho Creek is located just south of the bridge leading into the driveway at the end of river road (44.5402089, -89.3298008). A third parking area is located on County ZZ, this can be reached by turning west onto the dirt road after the third driveway north of Krogwold Rd. (44.5582860, -89.3251990).
