Iverson Park

https://ebird.org/hotspot/L303559?yr=all&m=&rank=mrec&hs_sortBy=taxon_order&hs_o=asc

Habitat: Mixed Coniferous and Hardwood Forest, Shrub Swamp, Marsh, Open Water

Best Birds: The mature white pines and other conifers around the park attract Great Crested Flycatcher, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Red Crossbill, Pine Siskin, and Pine Warbler. Northern Rough-winged Swallow can be found near the “beach.” The hardwood forest along the Plover River can produce vireos, flycatchers, sparrows, blackbirds, and warblers. The trail that heads south from the park along the river traverses shrub swamp, cattail marsh, and stretches of open water. Scan these habitats for ducks, shorebirds, herons, flycatchers, sparrows, blackbirds, and warblers.

Directions: Iverson Park lies within the Stevens Point suburb of Park Ridge. The north parking lot can be reached by turning south off of Main St (Highway 66) just west of the bridge crossing the Plover River.

To access the park in winter, take Greenbriar Ave south from Main St (Highway 66), then turn east onto Hillcrest Dr and follow it downhill to the south parking lot. This second parking lot is also the winter access point.
