Habitat: Bottomland Hardwood Forest, Mixed Coniferous Forest, Pine Plantation, Oak Savannah, Grassland, Open Water.

Best Birds: Starting at Fountain Lake search for waterfowl, herons, and blackbirds. Least Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Vireo, and warblers can be observed in the surrounding woods. Emmons Creek Rd and the surrounding trails can yield Broad-winged Hawk, vireos, flycatchers, Veery, Wood Thrush, and warblers including: Mourning, Hooded, and Pine. 

Hiking the Ice Age Trail south from Stratton Lake Rd, look for Clay-colored Sparrow and Grasshopper Sparrow in the restored grassland. Continuing into the bottomland and mixed forest Ruffed Grouse, vireos, flycatchers, thrushes, sparrows, warblers, and Scarlet Tanager can be found. Check the creek crossing Stratton Lake Rd for finches or thrushes. Third Ave is another productive road; the scrub thickets on the north end attract Field Sparrow, Eastern Towhee, and Blue-winged Warbler

Directions: 24 miles SE of Stevens Point/11 miles southwest of Waupaca. Emmons Creek can be reached by turning south on County D from Highway 54. after County D curves west continue south onto Stratton Lake Rd to reach the property.
