Stower Seven Lake State Trail—West of Wanderoos

Habitat: Northern Hardwood Forest, Successional Oldfield, Alder Swamp, Sedge Meadow, Marsh, Alder and Willow Swamp, Open Water, Non-Native Grassland, Cropland.

Best Birds: This three mile portion of the 14 mile trail passes through multiple high quality wetlands with nesting geese, ducks, rails, Black-billed Cuckoo, American Woodcock, Sandhill Crane, American Bittern, Red-shouldered Hawk, Broad-winged Hawk, Alder Flycatcher, Sedge Wren, Swamp Sparrow, Blue-winged Warbler, and at least eight other warbler species. In the forests look for owls, vireos, and Wood Thrush

In forested streams crossing the trail listen for Northern Waterthrush.  Scan the adjacent fields and farms for typical farm birds, as well as Eastern Towhee and Field Sparrow.

Directions: 37 miles NE of Hudson/Six miles west of Amery in Wanderoos with parking at 45.306706, -92.495632. Parking at the west end of the trail is at Round Lake public beach 45.313076, -92.560365.
