Farm Road Flooded Fields

Farm Road Flooded Fields, Ozaukee County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat:  Cropland along Sauk Creek that floods a 2-mile stretch in spring.

Best Birds:  Large numbers of waterfowl gather as the snow melts in spring.  Snow Goose, White-fronted Goose, Cackling Goose, and sometimes Ross’ Goose are spotted in the flocks as are most inland duck species such as Northern Pintail.  If the water persists later in spring, shorebirds like Short-billed Dowitcher, Wilson’s Phalarope, and Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs are likely.

Directions:  6 miles N of Port Washington and 2-3 miles south of Belgium on the west side of Hwy KW.  The best viewing area is near the intersection of Farm Road and County Road A where the creek crosses under Hwy A. Also scan N along Farm Road and south on KW to Dixie Road.
