Dixie Road Flooded Fields, Ozaukee County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot
Habitat: Cropland, Open Water. (Ephemeral ponds on N side of road and more distantly on S side of road)
Best Birds: Flooded plowed fields may draw geese in late winter and very early spring including possible White-fronted Goose, and Snow Goose. In early spring, dabbling ducks may appear. Shorebirds such as Lesser Yellowlegs, Pectoral Sandpiper, and Dunlin are likely later in spring.
In winter and spring, both of these fields are feeding areas for Horned Lark, Snow Bunting, Lapland Longspur, and Savannah Sparrow. Vesper Sparrow breeds here. Eurasian Collared-Dove is possible on the telephone wires/poles at Hwy LL and Dixie Rd.
The farm buildings ½ mile farther east and ½ west of Hwy LL are also worth checking for Eurasian Collared-Dove.
Directions: 5 miles N of Port Washington and 3 miles south of Belgium, on Dixie Rd, between LL and KW.
