Habitat: Bottomland Hardwoods, Marsh, Successional Oldfield, Restored Grassland.
Best Birds: This US Fish and Wildlife Service property usually has breeding Sedge Wren, Henslow’s Sparrow, Savannah Sparrow, and Bobolink. The oldfield has Willow Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird, Clay-colored Sparrow, and occasionally Northern Harrier and Blue-winged Warbler.
The marsh has Sora and Wilson’s Snipe. Wood Thrush and Mourning Warbler breed in the hardwoods and Rusty Blackbird migrate through.
Directions: 11 miles N of Port Washington and three miles S of Cedar Grove. Alder Rd connects to Jay Rd on the north and Silver Beach Rd on the south. Alder Rd is closed during the winter.
