LaSage Bottoms SNA, Outagamie County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot
Habitat: The State Natural Area is within the Wolf River Bottoms Wildlife Area and contains Bottomland Hardwoods, Marsh and Open Water. The adjoining wildlife area includes the same habitats plus Native and Restored Grasslands and Cropland.
Best Birds: An elevated, solid surfaced lane leads through swampland and marsh along the Wolf River to the SNA. Look and listen for Woodcock, Wilson’s Snipe, Black-crowned Night Heron, Red-shouldered Hawk, Winter Wren and Rusty Blackbird. Prothonotary Warbler is regular here. The area possibly offers the best chance in the county for Cerulean Warbler. In the adjoining unit, check the restored grasslands for Sedge Wren, grassland sparrows, and Bobolink.
Directions: 18 miles N.W. of Appleton. On County S park immediately west of the Wolf River bridge. 44.38143, -88.60631. On foot, follow the lane/trail north to the SNA at 44.39285, -88.59967.
