Habitat:  Open Water, Bottomland Hardwoods, Southern Hardwood Forest.

Best Birds: The Fox River supports a variety of ducks, geese, grebes, and herons and, during periods of low water, a variety of shorebirds can be found including Greater and Lesser Yellowleg, Solitary Sandpiper, and Spotted Sandpiper. In winter, the open water of the Fox River attracts a sizable wintering population of Bald Eagle

Over 7 miles of trails, including a one-mile trail along the Fox River with approximately 2,000 feet of barrier-free boardwalk, provide access to the Bottomland Hardwoods along the Fox River, where a variety of woodpeckers, thrushes, sparrows, and warblers, as well as Belted Kingfisher and occasional Black-crowned Night Heron may be found. A Peregrine Falcon nest box is located on the paper mill across the river. Across CTH Z (Dodge St), a network of trails traverse a mature upland forest that support Pileated Woodpecker, owls, vireos, and Scarlet Tanager.

The nearby Konkapot Trail runs along Konkapot Creek from CTH Z south to CTH CE. Wild Turkey and a good variety of  thrushes, sparrows, and warblers can be found along this trail. The small restored prairie/grassland area at the south end supports American Woodcock, Savannah Sparrow, Eastern Meadowlark, and Dickcissel.
