Warnimont County Park

https://ebird.org/hotspot/L300995

Habitat:  Southern Hardwood Forest, Pine Plantation, Non-Native Grassland, Successional Oldfield, Marsh, Open Water, Beaches.

Best Birds: Along with Sheridan Park to the north, these parks run together along a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. The proximity to the shore makes them great for migrating passerines and occasionally raptors in spring and fall.  The open waters of Lake Michigan often hold flocks of ducks during migration and in winter. Check the rafts carefully for scoters along with loons and grebes. The sandy bluffs host one of the largest Bank Swallow colonies in the state. The early successional woodlots are good places to look for nesting Brown Thrasher and Orchard Oriole. There are several trails that go through the woods and down to the beach.  The Oak Leaf bike trail also runs through this beautiful park.

Directions: Eight miles south of Milwaukee. Located along Lake Michigan in Cudahy east of Lake Drive between College and Layton Avenues.
