Habitat: Non-Native Grassland, Marsh, Open Water, Beaches.
Best Birds: This small 22 acre park in the Milwaukee harbor is accessible by paved trails from the mainland. The small lagoon provides a sheltered harbor for a variety of ducks and gulls. The beach is often good for shorebirds and is a reliable spot in spring to find Willet and American Avocet. A good variety of passerines including Nelson’s Sparrow can be found in migration along with rails and occasionally Short-eared Owl. This is another good vantage point to scope the harbor and breakwall for Snowy Owl, gulls and a variety of ducks. The mouth of the Milwaukee River is just south of the park and is a great waterfowl and gull spot. North of the park, the area in front of the art center can be good for scoters and other uncommon ducks.
Directions: In the city of Milwaukee. Located east of Lincoln Memorial Drive and south of Michigan Street. Park on N. Harbor Drive or E. Clybourn St to access the park from the north. Park on E. Erie Street for viewing the river mouth and access to the park from the south.
