Habitat: Southern Hardwood Forest, Oak-Hickory Forest, Pine Plantation, Open Water, Beaches and Mudflats.
Best Birds: A large park along Lake Michigan with hiking trails winding through woods and ravines. Extensive pine plantations in the park are attractive to owls and winter finches during invasion years. Pine Warbler often stay to nest. A feeder area is maintained in the park and often hosts Red-headed Woodpecker and Common Redpoll. The mature woodlots are great for migrating passerines and home to nesting species like Eastern Wood-Pewee and Great-crested Flycatcher. The beach is a good spot to check for migrating shorebirds including American Avocet and Willet.
Directions: Located 10 miles south of downtown Milwaukee in the city of South Milwaukee. Along Lake Michigan between College and Rawson Avenue.
