Habitat: 140 acres of Black Oak Forest, Mixed Coniferous Forest, Conifer Bog, Sedge Meadow. Largest Old Growth White Pine/Black Oak Forest remnant in the Central Sandhills ecological landscape.

Best Birds: Ruffed Grouse, Eastern Whip-poor Will, American Woodcock, Bald Eagle, Cooper's Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk, Barred Owl, Northern Saw-whet Owl, Pileated Woodpecker, Eastern Wood Pewee, Alder Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Vireo, Common Raven, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Brown Creeper, Veery, Wood Thrush, Eastern Towhee, Pine Warbler and Scarlet Tanager.

Directions: 46 miles SSE of Stevens Point/10 miles south of Wautoma on State Hwy. 22. West on Dixie Ave one mile to parking area: 43.953159 - 89.339227. Can also be accessed by parking on the shoulder along 14th Ave north, or by canoe or kayak on the Mecan River from the bridge on 14th Ave. (43.964635, -89.347332) to the bridge on Dixie Ave.
