Little Manitowoc Slough

Habitat: Open Water, Marsh, Sedge Meadow, Willow Swamp.  On the Little Manitowoc River just upstream from its mouth on Lake Michigan.  Habitat varies dependent upon Lake Michigan water levels.

Best Birds:  Used by numerous waterbirds throughout most seasons of the year, particularly spring through summer.  All common duck species occur in good numbers during spring migration, and the area is used for foraging by all waterbirds, including Osprey and Belted Kingfisher.  Sedge Meadow and Willow Swamp have typical nesting birds including Willow Flycatcher, and migrating passerines in spring and fall.  Cattail marsh birds include Sora, Marsh Wren, and Swamp Sparrow.

Directions: 35 miles SE of Green Bay/at the northeast edge of the Manitowoc, just upstream from Lake Michigan.  Can be viewed from multiple locations, including a walking trail on the east side from Maritime Drive across the street from parking at 44.105811, -87.645569 and from the parking lot on the north edge of Lincoln Park, accessed from Reed Avenue 44.11231, -87.64831.
