Grandfather Flowage

eBird Hotspot Link: https://ebird.org/hotspot/L7293040

Habitat: Open Water, Marsh.

Best Birds: Look for Trumpeter Swan, Tundra Swan, American Wigeon,  Northern Shoveler, and Horned Grebe feeding in the vegetation near the road during migration. Look and listen for marsh birds in the small marsh. When the water level is down, there might be a possibility for a few shorebirds such as Solitary and Spotted Sandpiper.

Directions: 35 Miles North of Wausau. Located on Hwy 107 North of Merrill and South of Tomahawk. Just South of the Hwy E bridge. The shoulder on the west side of the road is wide enough to park and view the flowage. Some years this spot is better than others due to the amount of Wild Rice that grows there.
