Diamond Roof SNA, Langlade County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat: Open Water, Cedar Swamp, Conifer Bog, and Northern-Hardwood Forest.

Best Birds: Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Blue-headed Vireo,Winter Wren, Lincoln’s Sparrow, Northern Parula, Black-throated Blue Warbler,and Blackburnian Warbler are just a few of the birds that can be found throughout the area. 

Directions: 74 miles NE of Wausau/40 miles northeast of Antigo off McCaslin Brook Road. A parking area is located at the end of McCaslin Brook Road northwest of its intersection with Forest Road 2123 (Diamond Roof Rd), (45.332281, -88.716319). Various logging roads and trails are found along Forest Road 2123 (Diamond Roof Rd) and Forest Road 2357 (Ada Lake Rd), where it crosses the Nine Mile Creek, 45.32780, -88.73711.

This extensive area is a mixture of habitats featuring upland woodlands, creeks, swamps, bogs, lakes, and spring ponds which can be accessed by logging roads and trails.

Be aware that forest roads in this area are usually not plowed in winter and active logging could be in progress.
