Habitat: Open Water, Native and Restored Grasslands, Marsh, and Northern Hardwood Forest.

Best Birds: The wetlands and open water will contain a variety of waterfowl including teal, Ring-necked Duck, Bufflehead, and Pied-billed Grebe in addition to marsh birds such as Sora, herons, and American Bittern. Shorebirds such as American Woodcock and Wilson’s Snipe can also be found in the area. There are a multitude of flycatchers, sparrows, vireos ,and warblers found across the site including Alder Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Vireo, and Swamp Sparrow. Keep your eyes skyward for various raptors, which include Rough-legged Hawk and Northern Harrier.

Directions: 22 miles NE of Wausau/12 miles west of Antigo. Several parking areas are found along the south side of State Trunk Highway 64 (45.14807, -89.41699).
