Bruemmer County Park/Buzz Besandry Anadromous Fisheries

Bruemmer park, Kewaunee County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Buzz Besadny Anadromous Fisheries, Kewaunee County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot

Habitat:  Bottomland Hardwoods, Successional Oldfields.  These two sites are, in essence, across the road from each other with access to Ahnapee and Ice Age Trails nearby.

Best Birds: The best birding for Bruemmer Park is on the trails behind the zoo. The hardwoods here can hold Winter Wren, Mourning Warbler, Black-throated Blue Warbler, and Scarlet Tanager. There are snags that provide nice perches for Great-Crested and Olive-sided Flycatcher.

Trails lead to a successional field nearby that hold Eastern Meadowlark and Bobolink

The Buzz Besandry Fishery area has hiking trails along the Kewaunee River. Like Bruemmer Park in habitat and species, this area is more reliable for Golden-winged and Blue-winged Warbler and both hybrids have also been seen here (Lawrence’s and Brewster’s Warbler).

Directions: 27 miles E of Green Bay/about one mile west of Kewaunee, take CTH-C to reach both sites.  The parking areas to access these sites are located at Bruemmer Park (44.4576, -87.5547) and Buzz Besandry Fishery Facility (44.4645, -87.5597), with access to the Ice Age Trail area at 44.4585, -87.5554.

Site Address & Additional Information:

The Buzz Besandry Anadromous Fishery area has a windowed fish ladder that is open to the public and restrooms available at both sites.
