Prairie Springs Park and Lake Andrea

Habitat: Bottomland Hardwood forest, Open Water along the Des Plaines River. 

Best birds: Lake Andrea attracts many waterfowl during migration. Look for spring migrant ducks and geese here such as Snow Goose and an occasional Ross’s Goose, Gadwall, and Green-winged Teal. Scan the frozen lake in winter for gulls such as Lesser and Great Black-backed Gull

Hike the trail system that starts opposite the beach to look for migrants and woodland birds. 

Flood waters along the south side of Hwy 165 can produce large numbers of herons

Directions: 40 miles south of Milwaukee. Located on Hwy. 165 about 1.5 miles east of the I-94 exit 347 (Hwy. 165).
