Petrifying Springs Park

Habitat: Southern Hardwood Forest, Open Water (Pike River), Urban,  Pine Plantation.

Best birds: Red-headed Woodpecker, White-crowned, and White-throated Sparrow frequent the feeder station near the Pike River during migration.  There are several bird feeding stations located throughout the park. There is a monitored Eastern Bluebird trail at the golf course. 

The pine plantings within the park and the nearby UW-Parkside property provide cover for owls, including Great Horned.

Directions: 35 miles south of Milwaukee off of Hwy 31 in Kenosha. Take Hwy 31 to Seventh St. The entrance to the park is shortly after the turn east onto Seventh St.  The feeders are at  42.6469, -87.8662 and the pine plantation is at 42.640210, -87.875339
