Yellow River Oxbows SNA, Juneau County, WI, US - eBird Hotspot
Habitat: Jack Pine-Oak barrens, Open Water, Bottomland Hardwoods.
Best birds: Good for typical barrens species. A nighttime visit in summer should produce Common Nighthawk and Whip-poor-will.
The road descends a short 10-foot drop into the floodplain where one may find Red-shouldered Hawk, Tufted Titmouse, Prothonotary Warbler, Cerulean Warbler and Hooded Warbler.
Directions: 74 miles E of LaCrosse/15.6 miles north of Mauston city center via Hwys. 58, G and local roads. From the parking area on 17th Avenue (43.978568, -90.035700) proceed west on the old management road through the barrens.
