Lower Wyoming Road

https://ebird.org/hotspot/L3305185

Habitat:The habitat along this road consists of Southern Hardwood Forests on the bluffs and cropland in the valley.

Best Birds: This road dissets ideal habitat for wintering Golden Eagle.  Although there are several such roads in northern Iowa County, the Lower Wyoming Valley is known as a reliable location for this species.  Other birds that can be found in the valley in winter include Rough-legged Hawk and Northern Shrike.  This location has been under-birded in the warmer months of the year, but visitors could expect to find typical southern species like Yellow-billed Cuckoo, Tufted Titmouse, Orchard Oriole, and Blue-winged Warbler.

Directions: 41 miles W of Madison/10 miles north of Dodgeville on Hwy 23, turn left onto Lower Wyoming Road.  Travel north along this road for the next 3 miles, birding along the roadside through the valley.
