Habitat: Northern Hardwoods, Mixed Coniferous Forest, Cedar Swamp, Open water.

Best Birds: Look for waterfowl and Common Loon on the lake. Black-billed Cuckoo and Eastern Whip-poor-will nest here. Osprey and Broad-winged Hawk are possible.  Woodpeckers, flycatchers, thrushes and Winter Wren are possible along the lake trail.  Golden-winged, Mourning, Cape May, Northern Parula, Magnolia, Blackburnian, Black-throated Blue, and Canada Warbler are possible.  

Directions: 36 miles west from Iron Mountain, MI.  Follow US Highway 141/2 and State Highway 70 to Dream Lake Road to Lost Lake Campground and the Assessor’s Trail Parking, 45.883758, -88.555265. Take Forest Road 3774 to the cabins for another walk along the west side of the lake, 45.882058, -88.566847.
