Habitat: Conifer Bog, Mixed Coniferous Forest, Northern Hardwoods, Willow, Adler or Dogwood Swamp, Cedar Swamp, Open Water.

Best Birds:  Common Loon and Trumpeter Swan nest here.  Spruce Grouse, Black-billed Cuckoo, and Black Tern are occasional.  Broad-winged Hawk, American Kestrel, Merlin, Canada Jay, and Boreal Chickadee are possible.  Golden-crowned Kinglet, Winter Wren, Purple Finch, and Lincoln Sparrow breed here.  Winter finches are possible in irruptive years.  Uncommon warblers include Mourning, Northern Parula, Magnolia, Blackburnian, Black-throated Blue, and Canada.

Directions: 46 miles west of Iron Mountain, MI.  Follow US Highway 70 to Wisconsin State Highway 139 south from Long Lake, to Morgan Lake Road, and Grandma Lake Road to small grass parking lot and sign, 45.816139, -88.606699.  Follow rough path west to the lake.  Knee high rubber boots are suggested to traverse the bog.  For access to the northern and western perimeter of this natural area continue north to Tie Mill Road and turn west for 1.5 miles, 45.818708, -88.625944
