Habitat: Jack Pine-Oak Barrens.
Best Birds: The Jack Pine-Oak Barrens are managed with prescribed fire. Clay-colored Sparrow and Eastern Towhee are common. In recently burned areas Upland Sandpiper, Whip-Poor-Will, and Brewer’s Blackbird are possible. The local Friends group, “Friends of the Bird Sanctuary” also manage a Sharp-tailed Grouse viewing blind in April and May.
Directions: 37 miles SE of Superior. 4.5 miles south of Solon Springs on Hwy 53 and west 1 mile on Cty Hwy M and Bird Rd. There is a parking lot on Bird Road a couple tenths of a mile north of M.

The North Country Trail runs the entirety of the property from north to south and can be accessed via the parking area on Bird Road.
