Peninsula State Park - Weborg Point

Habitat: Open Water, Marsh, Sedge Meadow, Willow and Alder Swamp, Mixed Coniferous Forest.

Best Birds: Osprey, Virginia Rail, Sora, Virginia Rail, Sandhill Crane, Winter Wren, Swamp Sparrow, Black-throated Green, Black-and-white, Nashville, and Yellow-rumped Warbler.  Area is known as a warbler migrant trap in spring. 

Directions: 68 miles NE of Green Bay/25 miles north of Sturgeon Bay. Take Highway 42 to Shore Road in Fish Creek and proceed into Peninsula State Park for 0.75 miles.  Go past 2 entrances to the campground, then take the 3rd left into a small gravel parking area (45.135138 -87.239100).  Walk and bird back to the campground road and to the pier and surrounding shore areas and small shallow bay to the south.  Return to campground road and cross Shore Road to Pioneer Cemetery near which a bike trail passes that can be used to access the White Cedar State Natural Area.  Follow a one mile loop through an ecologically diverse area of mature white cedar forest, Niagara Escarpment and sugar maple woodlands.

Please respect Pioneer Cemetery.  Watch for poison ivy. Unfortunately, this area is also rife with several invasive species, including Garlic Mustard and Dames Rocket. Appropriate measures should be taken to not spread these aggressive plants.
